Platinum Paving’s Asphalt Overlay Services

When analyzing your current project, there may come a breakeven point where fixing several problem areas will cost as much as a new overlay or a removal and replacement. We will make sure you know all your options to give you the best result for the least amount of money. The process typically involves milling the surface of the existing pavement and then applying a tack coat adhesive. Our team of specialists will then put down a leveling course of asphalt, followed by the overlay.

What Is Asphalt Removal & Replacement?

We grind out or break away the existing asphalt and then hauling it away. In some cases we may need new base material is added to strengthen the foundation. The new or existing base is then rolled to grade, which will help with water drainage and preservation of the new asphalt. After the base is compacted, we apply a new layer of fresh asphalt and roll it to specified thickness, leaving you with a fresh new lot.

When Would A Full Asphalt Replacement Be Necessary?

Normally this will be determined during the inspection process. When you look at your asphalt now, is it: dried out, oxidized, cracked and falling apart to the point where an asphalt overlay would be like putting a Band-Aid on a large open wound. In that case it is better to remove. A patch repair or seal coating or will cost you less in the short term, but if the lot is beyond repairs, they are only delaying the inevitable and the pavement will fail soon. In the long run, it is cheaper to replace the lot and schedule a pavement maintenance program that is within your budget.
